National Geographic photographs, by Jim Richardson, are on display in the Cuba Antique Mall. The permaent exhibit shows images of the people and events of the rural community. Cuba and Jim have been featured twice on the CBS Sunday Morning show.

A Stone Carving, displayed on Cuba’s main street, is a gift from Glen Lojka, a Cuba native who now resides in Manhattan, KS. The stone is 7 feet 8 inches tall; 5 feet 2 inches wide; 18 inches deep and weighs 8,000 pounds. In this carving is a Czech immigrant family of the late 1800’s just unloaded at the train station in a new world.

The Cuba Community Hall, Built in 1930, also houses a roller skating rink and the Senior Citizens Center. The hall was recently remodeled in 2004-2005 to include an elevator and handicap accessibility. Graduation pictures of Cuba High School and Hillcrest High School are all displayed in the basement of the hall.

The Silverthorne Schoolhouse, representing all country schools in the area, sets on the east side of Main Street. One room of the building displays Cuba and Hillcrest school memorabilia and when finished the second room will be a museum representing a one room schoolhouse.

The Blacksmith shop, which was renovated in 2007-2008, sets ½ block west of Main Street. It is one of only two in the state of Kansas on the original location. Much of the equipment inside is original. Blacksmith demonstrations are scheduled several times a year.

City Park, located on the north end of Main street, features very nice playground equipment, a basketball court with new basketball goals, a horseshoe court, restrooms, and many picnic tables under a shelter that includes a kitchenette.
